On Tuesday 27th May 2025 our local coordinator Bishnu visited Shree Saraswoti Basic School in the Annapurna region to deliver the water tank and filter that Peak Education Nepal has provided. We first started working with this primary school a couple of years ago, and we have been able to improve things considerably for them thanks to all the kind donations we have received.

This small community relies on the school not just for education for the youngest members of the community, but also somewhere safe and comfortable for the children to be during the working day. Before we began to work with them the school had minimal resources and attendance was poor. With your support we have been able to help them provide comfortable uniforms (with warm jumpers for the winter months), books, stationary, insulation matts for the concrete floor, benches and many other things. However, the water tank and filter are absolutely key. With the help of the local community elders, Bishnu was able to persuade the local government to install a toilet. So now the children and teachers have a toilet and clean drinking water. They are hugely grateful and we hope attendance in the local community will now increase.

Bishnu made sure to put a notice on the tank and filter so that any visitors to the school would know that the charity is supporting them. Trustees Mark and Caroline Livesey will go to visit the school in October and provide more updates then. For now the monsoon approaches and the roads which lead from Pokhara to the school soon become impassable for some months. We hope Bishnu can visit one more time before the monsoon sets in. We will let you know!

Please share this update with anyone who might be interested in education of children in Nepal. Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
